Donegal North East is a constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency has an electorate of 58,208 and at present is served by 3 Teachtaí Dála (TDs). The method of election is the Single Transferable Vote.

History

The constituency was first created for the 1961 election taking in parts of the abolished Donegal East constituency, it lasted until 1977 when it was abolished and became part of the new Donegal constituency. It was recreated for the 1981 election and has been used at all elections since then.

Constituency boundaries

The is located in the northern part of County Donegal. It encompasses the Letterkenny, Milford and Inishowen electoral areas of Donegal County Council.
