Edinburgh and Northern Railway

The Edinburgh and Northern Railway was a Scottish railway company. It operated services between Burntisland, on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth, Perth and Tayport, with a junction at Ladybank. The company is more often referred to by its later name of Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Railway.

In combination with ferries between Burntisland and Granton (for Edinburgh), and Tayport and Broughty Ferry (for Dundee and Aberdeen), it provided a through route from Edinburgh to Aberdeen. It was authorised by Act of Parliament in 1845 and became part of the North British Railway in 1849.
