Eigil of Fulda

Eigil of Fulda

Eigil (c.750-822) was the fourth abbot of Fulda. He was the nephew and biographer of the first abbot Saint Sturm. His predecessor Ratgar as abbot was deposed, with Eigil taking over 817-8 [ [http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/sturm.html Medieval Sourcebook: Eigil: Life of St. Sturm, early 9th Century ] ] . His successor Hrabanus Maurus was one of his pupils.

He is a Catholic saint.
