Lingual antimicrobial peptide is a peptide found in human or other mammalian saliva that helps the mouth maintain microbial stasis. Bovine lingual antimicrobial peptides are present in multiple tissues including the airway, the gastrointestinal tract, the conjunctiva, and the genitourinary tract.
