Charles Francis Christopher Hawkes

Charles Francis Christopher Hawkes (5 June, 1905 – 3 April, 1992) was an English archaeologist and a professor of European prehistory at Oxford University (1946-1972).

In 1933 he was married to Jacquetta Hopkins, divorced, and then married Sonia Chadwick in 1959.

He developed the theory "Ladder of Inference" which has four rungs.
