Convicted and sent to Emerald City, Meaney became loyal to the Irish leader Ryan O'Reily. When the boxing-matches started, Liam cheered for the Irish representative, Cyril O'Reily.

eason 4, Part I

When Tobias Beecher and Chris Keller changed their cells, Liam became Keller's cellmate.

eason 4, Part II

Keller left Liam's cell and his new cellmate is the Irish Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) terrorist Padraig Connolly. Connolly told him that he wasn't Irish and later told O'Reily the same thing. Then, Connolly told O'Reily and Meaney about how his mother was killed by British soldiers and why he became a PIRA's member.

eason 5

At the previous season, O'Reily killed Irish rapist Patrick Keenan. To mess up with the investigation, O'Reily paid fellow inmate Martin Montgomery to lie Warden Leo Glynn he saw Henry Stanton killing Keenan. O'Reily told the whole story to Liam and ordered him to put Keenan's necklace at Montgomery's cell.

eason 6

In this season, Liam went to see the Parole Board led by Luis Ruiz. After the meeting, Liam informed Tim McManus his parole was denied.
