Enon is located at coor dms|39|52|13|N|83|56|4|W|city (39.870309, -83.934462)GR|1. The village sits roughly 3 miles south of the old
National Road .According to the
United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 1.3square mile s (3.4km² ), all of it land.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 2,638 people, 1,118 households, and 799 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 1,989.6 people per square mile (765.8/km²). There were 1,157 housing units at an average density of 872.6/sq mi (335.9/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.01% White, 0.57% African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.27% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.02% of the population.There were 1,118 households out of which 26.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.4% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% were non-families. 25.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.82.
In the village the population was spread out with 20.5% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 32.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.0 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $58,966, and the median income for a family was $69,196. Males had a median income of $45,335 versus $28,872 for females. The

Astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom (
April 3 ,1926 –January 27 ,1967 ) lived in Enon in 1958 & 1959. He was aUnited States Air Force pilot and aNASA astronaut . A native ofMitchell, Indiana , he was the second American to fly in space. He was killed during a training exercise for theApollo One mission onJanuary 27 ,1967 , at Launch Complex 34 at Cape Kennedy, along with fellow astronauts Ed White and Roger Chaffee. Grissom was a posthumous recipient of theCongressional Space Medal of Honor and thePurple Heart medal.ee also
