The Stu Marshall Cup

The Stu Marshall Cup

The Stu Marshall Cup is a trophy annually awarded to a Royal Air Force (RAF) serviceman for outstanding achievement in Water Polo. The Cup has been awarded every year since its inception in 1989, save for the years of 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2002.

The current holder of the trophy is SAC(T) Benjamin Mark Kingshott, an Airframes Technician currently serving at 216 Squadron (Tristars) at RAF Brize Norton. SAC(T) Kingshott received the award at the RAF Annual General Swimming Association meeting, RAF Cranwell, on Friday, 18 January 2008.

The name "Stu Marshall" was given to the trophy in respect to a late Chief Technician in the Royal Air Force, Stu Marshall, who was a keen Water Polo player. Stu Marshall competed at RAF and Combined Services level at both Water Polo and swimming. He was the captain of the RAF Water Polo team and also spent a year as captain of the combined services team. He was still competing in 1988 when he died aged only 44 at RAF Marham, this trophy was first presented in June 1989 at RAF Cranwell during the RAF Swimming Championships by his wife, father and children.
