Román González (boxer)

Román Alberto González Luna (b. June 17, 1987 at Managua, Nicaragua ) is a Nicaraguan boxer who became the WBA minimumweight champion with a fourth-round TKO against Yutaka Niida on September 15, 2008, extending his record to 21-0 (19 by KO).

Career

Dubbed "El Chocolatito" he turned pro in the straw/light flyweight divisions in 2005. For two years he beat weak opposition all by knockout by pressuring them and hurting them with his vauted left hook.Then he rose to prominence with a KO1 against Venezuelan Varela who had gone the distance with Ivan Calderon in a title fight.

He KOd the Filipino Eriberto Gejon who had never been stopped and only had two losses from world title fights in the first round in Japan with a single body shot and in 2008 beat durable southpaw Hiroshi Matsumoto in his first decision win, all others were KO wins.

It challenged the WBA world minimumweight champion and Yutaka Niida in Yokohama City in a Japanese country, and a technical knockout won and became a new WBA world minimum weight champion for 58 seconds for four first rounds on September 15, 2008.
