Ringing out

Ringing out

Ringing out is a process in audio engineering used to prevent audio feedback and maximize volume. It involves a sound technician raising the slider controls on the graphic equalizer to cause an audio system to feed back. Once this occurs, the sound man then pulls back the offending slider to a point just before it takes off and then moves on to the next slider. This is repeated until the operator has been right through the entire equalizer.
