Mid-Prairie Community School District

The Mid-Prairie Community School District is a rural public school district in southeastern Iowa comprises three communities: Wellman, Kalona, and West Chester. There are elementary schools in Kalona, Wellman, and Washington Township, with a middle school in Kalona, and a high school in Wellman.

High school

Mid-Prairie High School is located 1 mile east of Wellman in Southeast Iowa approximately 18 miles south of Iowa City and 15 miles north of Washington. MPHS is a four-year high school with approximately 360 students. Mid-Prairie High is served by the Grant Wood Area Education Agency. The High School website is http://www.mid-prairie.k12.ia.us/hs/

Middle school

Mid-Prairie Middle School is located in Kalona in Southeast Iowa approximately 18 miles south of Iowa City and 15 miles north of Washington. This school contains all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in the Mid-prairie District. Mid-Prairie Middle School is served by the Grant Wood Area Education Agency. Wellman Elementary

Wellman Elementary is a K-5 elementary school located in Wellman, Iowa, about 18 miles southwest of Iowa City. The principal is Evan Parrot and the secretary is Coralie Miller. It is one of three elementary schools in the Mid-Prairie School District. Wellman Elementary is served by the Grant Wood Area Education Agency. Wellman Elementary educates about 210 students each year. The school was built in 1979. Wellman Elementary's address is: 800 6th Avenue, Wellman, IA 52356. Kalona Elementary

Kalona Elementary is a K-5 elementary school located in Kalona, Iowa, about 18 miles south of Iowa City and 15 miles north of Washington. The principal is Jim Cayton and the secretary is Doreen Schlabaugh. It is one of three elementary schools in the Mid-Prairie School District. Kalona Elementary is served by the Grant Wood Area Education Agency. Kalona Elementary's address is: 702 6th Street Kalona, Iowa 52247. Washington Township Elementary

Washington Township Elementary is a K-5 elementary school located between Frytown and Joetown. The principal is Evan Parrot and the secretary is Paula Yoder. It is one of three elementary schools in the Mid-Prairie School District. Washington Township is served by the Grant Wood Area Education Agency.
