USS Snook

USS Snook

Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS "Snook", named for the common snook, an Atlantic marine fish that is bluish-gray above and silvery below a black lateral line.

* The first, "Snook" (SS-279), was a "Gato"-class submarine, launched in 1942 and lost in 1945, of unknown causes.
* The second, "Snook" (SSN-592), was a "Skipjack"-class submarine, launched in 1960 and struck in 1986.
