Patrol Force

The Patrol Force was an element of the United States Fleet from 3 November 1940 to 3 February 1941.

Previously called the Atlantic Squadron, the Patrol Force operated in the Atlantic Ocean patrolling shipping lanes at the beginning of World War II. The Patrol Force was further reorganized into type commands: Battleships, Patrol Force; Cruisers, Patrol Force; Destroyers, Patrol Force; and, Train, Patrol Force (the logistics arms).

In 1941, the Patrol Force was reorganized as the Atlantic Fleet.
