Gita Jayanti Malaysia

"Gita Jayanti Malaysia Team" is the group responsible to celebrate the [Gita Jayanthi] , the birthday of [Bhagavad Gita] . This is an independent organization consists of lovers and devotees of the sacred text, fondly called as Mother.

History

The inaugural Gita Jayanti in Malaysia was held in 2002 in a very small scale in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, under the leadership of Dina-Anukampana Das, a well-known devotee of Krishna and a die-hard lover of The Bhagavad Gita. His main motive is to spread the awareness of Bhagavad Gita among all Hindus.

The second year (2003) was held under the patronship of Mother Mangalam at the Pure Life Society, Petaling Jaya. From then, Mother Mangalam has been the official patron of Gita Jayanthi. The third year (2004) was also held under her patronage at Wisma Peladang in Petaling Jaya, in a larger scale, where it is attended by a deputy minister and many important people. At this point onwards, Gita Jayanthi in Malaysia is deemed to be a national level event by many Hindu organizations. The fourth year (2005) was held at Lakshmi Narayanan Temple, Kuala Lumpur, followed by Divine Life Society Malaysia in 2006, and once again at the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Kuala Lumpur, in 2007.

Background

(He had started a similar program in Singapore in 1998 with the help of His Holiness Sripad Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami in 1998, and it has grown to be a month-long mega-event now in its tenth year - see www.gitajayanti.org.sg It has become a major uniting force for Hindus on the island-nation and each year, The Hindu Endowments Board appoints a different Indian/Hindu temple/organization to take the leading role, while all other such organizations support actively.)

(He began propagating this having discovered what he calls 'Simplified Romanized Sanskrit' & his special method of using accelerated learning techniques to teach people perfect Sanskrit pronunciation within just 4 lessons of 2 hrs each. In Dec 2007, he performed a demonstration Sanskrit Pronunciation Workshop at one of the best Sanskrit Universities in India, namely the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetham in Tirupati, and when the Vice Chancellor Shri Harekrishna Satapathy popped in to witness the session, he remarked, "This is going to conquer the world. Now the Gita will be chanted everywhere by everyone.")

Current

This year (2007), the 6th Gita Jayanthi annual celebration will be held at the Lakshmi Narayanan Temple Kuala Lumpur on 20th December 2007 at 10.00am.
