Sexton Foods

Sexton Foods is a large food company in the United States of America.Sexton Foods was founded in 1883 by John Sexton, under the name of John Sexton & Co. The company created and sold seasonings, cookbooks, canned fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy, and packets of sugar and ketchup. Thomas Webb Sexton was the last owner of the company in 1968, the year when Beatrice Foods purchased the company. In 1993, Beatrice Foods sold the Sexton corporation to S. E. Rycoff Company, who then dropped the Sexton Label. Despite the abandonment of the label, many Sexton Foods trucks still drive around the country, delivering food from S. E. Rycoff Company. John Sexton is the founder of Sexton Foods. The food company went through three generations until being purchased in 1968. John Sexton made many cookbooks during his time as the head of the company. Some of his books had controversial racism issues. Most of the books had recipes for a family of fifty or more, and are not very popular because most families are not this large anymore.

Thomas Webb was the last owner of Sexton Foods. He was born on March 5, 1911. He married Jerry Sexton, and had eight children. This was the last generation of Sexton Foods before it was bought by Beatrice Foods in 1968. There are only two sons of Thomas Webb alive today, and none will ever be able to own the company.

In several of John Sexton's cookbooks, such as: The Sexton Cookbook, there are contreversial racial issues. The servers are always African American, and the diners are always white. The cookbook was made during times of racial issues, so the conflict is understandable.
