Aleksander Jeljaszewicz

Aleksander "Sasza" Jeljaszewicz (1902-1978) was a rotmistrz of the Polish Army of Tatar descent. In the Second Polish Republic, he was the commander of the Tatar Mounted Squadron, which was part of the 13th Regiment of Wilno Uhlans (13. Pulk Ulanow Wilenskich). His unit took part in the Polish September Campaign, reportedly, Jeljaszewicz's Tatars charged the Germans in the area of Maciejowice. His fate and whereabouts since then are unknown.
