Frank E. Barbour was the head coach of the University of Michigan football team in 1892 and 1893. He graduated from Yale University in 1892, where he played for a national championship team in 1891. He became the University of Michigan's second head football coach. Barbour expanded the team's schedule to twelve games in 1892. That year, Barbour's team had a 7-5 record, with wins over Wisconsin, DePauw, Albion, and Chicago, but losses to Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern, and Cornell. In 1893, the team improved to 7-3 with wins over Purdue, DePauw, Northwestern, Kansas and Chicago, and losses to Chicago, Minnesota and Wisconsin. George Dygert was the team captain in both of Barbour's seasons as head coach.
