Career

Between 1989 and 1997, Dave Benson-Phillips was also a presenter on Playdays, especially its memorable "Playground Stop" segment, in which he enabled viewers to become knowledgeable about Makaton, a basic sign language which is typically used with special needs children. After Get Your Own Back discontinued production, he kept a busy work schedule in children's and preschool educational television, particularly for the BBC and Playhouse Disney. He is widely known for his saying 'Crank it up'.

In 1996, Phillips also hosted CITV Saturday morning gameshow Wake Up in the Wild Room

He also hosted a local weekly segment every day on the Worthing, West Sussex radio station, 107.7 Splash FM. He produced a video of Makaton Nursery Rhymes in 1991, being a very rare example of sign language video recordings for children.

Benson-Phillips lives in Hanging Heaton with his wife Emma and their son Benjamin. He has a passion for music which he has had from an early age and 2 years ago was re-united with his teenage band to play lead guitarist in The Gullibles[citation needed]. He also runs a removal company and an inflatables hire company[1].

He is returning to the stage to star in a Christmas production of Jack & the Beanstalk at The Grange Theatre, Northwich, as the King of giddy oop on Wednesday 14th December to Saturday 31st December 2011.
