Broadcast translator

On August 12, 2008, WBTG received special temporary authority to retransmit its programming on 94.3 FM via a broadcast translator.cite web |work=FCC Media Bureau |title=Application Search Details (BSTA-20080718AQH) |url=http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=1255868 |date=2008-08-12] In its application, Paul Slatton cited a desire to "serve the Shoals area better at night" when the station is forced to lower its broadcast power from 1000 watts to just 79 watts and that this authority "would only be until the Commission starts receiving applications for licenses to do this same thing."cite web |work=FCC Media Bureau |title=Engineering STA (BSTA - 20080718AQH) |url=http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/cdbsmenu.hts?context=25&appn=101255868&formid=911&fac_num=60607 |date=2008-07-18] This special temporary authority expires on February 12, 2009.
