Alaska Youth For Environmental Action

Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA) is a high school environmental education and leadership program of the National Wildlife Federation. History

In 1998 six teenagers from Kodiak and Anchorage, Alaska, formed AYEA for they wanted an organized and effective outlet for young Alaskans to become involved in the environment. Currently, AYEA now has over 1,200 members statewide. Formal chapters are located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Sitka, Yakutat, Palmer, and Wasilla.

Accomplishments

In 2007, members of AYEA flew to Washington, D.C., to accept a commendation from The President's Environmental Youth Awards for outstanding achievement in environmental protection services.
