Armstrong Teasdale LLP is a law firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. It was founded in 1901 by Thomas Harper Cobbs and John E. Bishop. Since its founding, the firm has grown to nearly 269 lawyers with 11 national and international offices in Jefferson City, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; Belleville, Illinois; Edwardsville, Illinois; Overland Park, Kansas; Reno, Nevada; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Francisco, California; Washington, D.C.; and Shanghai, China. The managing partner is Michael A. Chivell and the chairman is Kenneth F. Teasdale.

The firm is a member of Lex Mundi, the world’s leading association of independent law firms in 160 jurisdictions; a member of United States Law Firm Group with 6,000 attorneys practicing in 19 law firms; and a member of State Law Resources, Inc., a national network comprised of 46 independent law firms with expertise in administrative, regulatory, and government relations at the state and federal levels.

Expanding into China

Armstrong Teasdale established a presence in China in 1994 and was awarded a license to open a foreign law office in Shanghai in 2000 by the PRC Ministry of Justice. Armstrong Teasdale is also a member of the China Alliance, an arrangement with three leading independent law firms with practices in China's business and regulatory centers.

Awards

"Corporate Board Member" magazine listed Armstrong Teasdale as one of the No. 1-ranked corporate law firms in St. Louis, Missouri by directors of U.S. publicly traded corporations in 2007. The firm was named among the 2007 "Working Mother" & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firms for Women. Nationally, fifty law firms were honored for their commitment to the retention and advancement of female lawyers. In the 2007 edition, "Chambers USA" awarded national honors to five Armstrong Teasdale attorneys, and included the firm's general corporate litigation, mergers & acquisitions, labor & employment, environmental and real estate practice areas. The firm was also listed as a "Go-To Law Firm" by client Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation as its firm of choice for corporate governance, corporate transactions, and intellectual property services. The firm has also been recognized for outstanding client service by BTI Consulting Group and was rated as one of the top patent law firms in the country by "Intellectual Property Today" magazine.
