Jonathan Ward (New York)

Jonathan Ward was a United States Representative from New York. He was born in the town of Eastchester on September 21, 1768. He received limited schooling. Ward served as assessor of Eastchester, sheriff of Westchester County, served in the New York State Senate, and as a member of the council of appointment.

He was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Fourteenth Congress (March 4, 1815-March 3, 1817). After leaving office, he served as a member of the State constitutional convention in 1821,and served as surrogate of Westchester County. Ward died in Eastchester on September 28, 1842.
