- Flaka
A Flaka is a freestyle
windsurfing move, where the sailor performs a sliding upwind 360 degree turn with the board and in the footstraps. Invented byWeb Padrick , who originally named the move Swayze after the actorPatrick Swayze . This move looks like a flatwater taka, hence its current name. The entire move is performed at planing speed on short boards and is therefore a "sliding" or "New School" freestyle manoeuver.
Alongside Vulcan and its variations, Flaka is the key manoeuver in modern windsurfing freestyle. Flaka variations include onehanded Flaka, clew-first Flaka, Flaka-diablo, Flaka 720, Meev (invented by
Kevin Mevissen ) and Shaka (invended byRicardo Campello )External links
