Jonathan Elworthy

Hon. Jonathan Herbert Elworthy (1936 - 17 June 2005) was a New Zealand Member of Parliament for Oamaru and Waitaki, in the South Island.

Member of Parliament

Jonathan Elworthy represented the Oamaru electorate (1975-78) and the Waitaki electorate (1978-84) in the New Zealand House of Representatives (Wood, p.90 & Wilson, p.195).

Cabinet Minister

He was Minister of Lands from 1981 to 1984 (see Wilson).

Jonathan Elworthy was awarded the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal for service to the community and the NZ 1990 Medal for services to New Zealand (Taylor, p.134). He was the brother of Peter Elworthy.
