No Cussing Club

History

The club was founded in spring 2007 in South Pasadena Middle School in South Pasadena, California by McKay Hatch while in the eighth grade because he was tired of hearing profanity from his friends. Hatch founded a similar club when he graduated into high school at South Pasadena High School. During club rush, an event at high schools where clubs showcase their activities to the rest of the student body, Hatch gained 120 members for his club. However, he said that 50 students yelled profanities at him. He also says he receives pornographic and obscene rants through his club's website.

Becoming a Member

No Cussing Challenge

The club invites its members to accept the No Cussing Challenge, which says:

I won't cuss, swear, use bad language, or tell dirty jokes. Clean language is the sign of intelligence and always demands respect. I will use my language to uplift, encourage and motivate.
