2008 British Superbike season

2008 British Superbike season

The 2008 British Superbike Championship season was scheduled to begin on April 6 2008, however snow at Brands Hatch forced the abandonment of racing, without a wheel being turned. The series will now start on April 20 and will end on October 12 2008. Starting with this season the championship will have a single tyre supplier. Pirelli beat Dunlop to sign a 3 year deal.cite news | url =http://www.crash.net/motorsport/bsb/news/158105-0/bsb_names_single_tyre_supplier.html | title =BSB names single tyre supplier| publisher =crash.net| date = 2007-12-14 | accessdate =2007-12-14] For the 2008 season the engine configuration regulations have been changed in parallel with those of the World Superbike Championship, to permit the racing of 1200 cc V-twins against 1000 cc four-cylinder machines.cite news | url =http://www.britishsuperbike.com/html/newsarticle.php?id=1214 | title =Testing starts well for Airwaves Ducati| publisher =www.britishsuperbike.com| date = 2008-03-01 | accessdate =2008-03-01]
