Mandsaur Institute of Technology

Mandsaur Institute of Technology (MIT) is an engineering college in the city of Mandsaur in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It was established in 1996.

It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, which is the university of technology of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Programs

The institute offers undergraduate degree programs in six fields:

  • Computer Science and Engineering,
  • Electronics and Telecommunications,
  • Mechanical Engineering,
  • Information Technology,
  • Electrical Engineering,
  • Electronics Engineering.

It offers one postgraduate program as Master of Computer Applications.

Board of Governors

The chairman of the Board of Governors is Shri Narendra Nahata (former Minister in the government of Madhya Pradesh).

The Director is Dr. R.D. Patidar

Campus

The campus of the Institution is located on Mhow-Neemuch state Highway, 3 km from the center of Mandsaur city.

Facilities

MIT is the only engineering college in Nimach-Mandsaur-Ratlam region of Madhya Pradesh. It has labs, class rooms, lecture theatres, sports ground, teacher's quarters, girls and boys hostels, and a food court. The college bus provides transport for the students in hostels.

Transport

With the advent of broad-gauge railway lines in Madsaur, it is now connected to cities like Indore and Mumbai, and has one of the biggest railways junctions of Madhya Pradesh 80km away at Ratlam. Ratlam is connected to most of the major cities of India through direct and connection trains.

Courses

The institute runs undergraduate engineering courses approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi (statutory body of government of India) and Department of Technical Education (DTE), Bhopal, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal.

The institute started with engineering degree courses in Mechanical, Computer Science and Electronics and Telecommunication with an intake of 60 in each stream, total 180 in 1996. The AICTE granted addition of more courses in Information Technology with an intake of 40 students in 1999. In 2000 AICTE granted an increase in intake in Computer Science and IT for 30 and 20 students respectively thus bringing the total intake of the institute to 270 students.

The institute premises and performance have been reviewed by AICTE officials in March 2004 for further enhancement in courses EEE and intake in (Electronics and Telecommunication, and Mechanical) and a postgraduate program in MCA. In 2008 three new postgraduate courses were introduced including M.Tech and MBA. The institute now has a total intake of 516 students and five degree level engineering courses and three postgraduate courses.
