Allen Ehrman

, Rabbi Allen (Elchanan) Ehrman is a member of the Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh faculty in the old city of Jerusalem. Rabbi Ehrman, known to his students as "Rav Ally" has expertise in all aspects of Halacha. Rabbi Ehrman is a chassidic rabbi who is a pupil of the legendary chasidic master the "Tolner Rebbe."

Rabbi Ehrman attained his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg. In addition, Rabbi Ehrman has published two critically acclaimed works on biblical and Talmudic law including one about the commandment of circumcision. He rose to prominence in the Orthodox Yeshiva world as a result of his unique approach to teaching Torah. Using humor as his segway, Rav Ehrman forms deep relationships with his students that greatly impacts their lives. Rav Ehrman is not only a major asset to the Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh community, but also plays a religious role in myriads of people through his blog "Alleyways to Torah". Recently Rabbi Ehrman read a comical Dr. Seuss book to 18 and 19 year old students in an effort to make a more serious point about the need for dillegence in bible study. He often talks about his own roots growing up in Manhattan, in NYC, and the comedic happenings of his youth. He also acknowledges that he was not particularly interested in his studies as a youth. Rabbi Ehrman is a master at Kiruv - the art of bringing Jews closer to religious observance. He also is involved in many charity works. He is also recognized as being extremely humble by his peers and students.

Rabbi Ehrman was born in the early 1970s in Mt. Sinai hospital to Mr. Jules and Agnes Ehrman in New York City in the United States. Rabbi Ehrman is one of four children. He was married in his early twenties. He resides in Jerusalem with his wife, rebbetzin Nechi Ehrman, and 4 children named Gila Shoshana, Avraham Mordechai, Shmuel Alexander, and Simcha.
