Jonas Hiller (b. February 12, 1982, in Felben Wellhausen, Switzerland) is a professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. He is the Ducks backup goaltender behind starter Jean-Sébastien Giguère.

Playing career

He won Switzerland's championship in 2002, 2005 and 2007, as well as the Spengler Cup in 2004 and 2006 with Davos. In 2006–07, Hiller set a career-high in wins with a 28–16–0 record in 44 games. He was signed as a free agent by the Ducks in May 2007.

Hiller made his debut for the Anaheim Ducks on September 30, 2007, defeating the Los Angeles Kings 4–1 in London, England. He allowed one goal on twenty-three shots for the win.

Ducks general manager Brian Burke felt that Hiller was ready to become full time backup to Giguère, and showed this by releasing former backup Ilya Bryzgalov, who was eventually claimed on waivers by the Phoenix Coyotes. Hiller went on to record a 2.06 goals against average and .926 save percentage in 23 games in his first NHL season.

Personal

Hiller can speak fluent English, German and French.
