The terror gang

The Terror Gang consisted of John Herbert Dillinger Jr. who was the leader, Baby-Face George Nelson, Russell Booby Clarke, Harry Pierpont, Pretty-Boy Arthur Floyd, Homer Van Meter, Oklahoma Jack Clark, John Red Hamilton, Machine Gun Kelly, Charles Makley, Walter Dietrich, Harry Copeland, and Edward W. Shouse. They all met inside Jail. Baby-Face George Nelson and Homer Van Meter met John Dillinger after the First Dillinger Gang was made in Michigan City Prison. The two met Dillinger inside Crown Point Jail where they all escaped from in 1933. The First Dillinger Gang however was in Michigan until Dillinger had gotten out on parole and broken his friends out. They were captured by police soon after.

John Dillinger was a boy who was raised in Brightwood, Indiana. After his home life he joined the United States Navy and then went AWOL. he would commit his first crime in 1924 where and a fellow friend assaulted a local grocer named Frank Morgan. He would be put in jail for nine years until 1933. For a year and a half he and his gang would be the most notorious and deadly bank robbers. But then on July 22, 1934, he and his girlfriend went to the Manhattan Biographic Theatre and was surrounded by FBI agents led by Melvin Purvis and several police officers. After realizing this would be his last stand he looked back at the Woman in Red, Annie Sage who had ratted him out to the police and said, "You got me, Darling," in which then he opened fire on the police and was shot.

Baby-Face Nelson was born Lester Joseph Gillis on December 6, 1908 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the more violent of the group. He had run with Roger Touhy and the Terrible Gang and then moved over to Al Capone's Gang as an enforcer. Capone threw Nelson out of the group with honor for both because Nelson was too violent. Nelson was believed to be slightly mentally unstable, thus why he was able to shoot at cops and sometimes if need be innocent bystandards on cue. He joined Dillinger in January 1934. After Dillinger had died Nelson devoted himself to honor Dillinger by breaking his record of robbed banks. He never was able to. On November 27, 1934 Barrington, Illinois he, his wife Hellen Gillis, and a friend John Paul Chase recognized a passing cop car and opened fire. They used the car as cover until Nelson charged them and was shot 17 times. While shot he drove his wife, child, and friend away from the battle to safety and died shortly after.

Pretty Boy Arthur Floyd was a friend of Nelson's. He ran as an enforcer with Dillinger much like Machine Gun Kelly, Charles Makley, John Red Hamilton and others. He died shortly after Dillinger did. He was on the run to his house to get a car but did not know when inside he was surrounded, he was shot many times on the lower half and was then interrogated by Melvin Purvis, after this Melvin Purvis shot him.

Russell Boobie Clarke and Harry Pierpont were basically the fathers that Dillinger had in his crime spree. Russell was Dillinger's cell mate and showed Dillinger the ropes in bank robbing. Pierpont was the serious one and was always there for Dillinger and taught him everything. He would be caught in 1934 and executed by electric chair.

Homer Van Meter was the joker and comedian of the group and that was the reason why Harry never liked him. Cops and Correctional officers would all say that Homer had no chance of changing from his violent ways. But a priest always believed him and while in the Terror Gang he was reported by other assorted gangmembers that he had shot back but never killed anyone. In 1934 he was taken by police officers and had his fingers shot off and then shot three times. Police had said he had no money on him but Gangmembers had said that he had well over a thousand on him.
