Poingly is a one person electroclash/laptop rock band from Brooklyn, NY. Though initially formed in 1995 in Hollis, NH, the band constantly changed sounds and line-up (which at one time included current IFC News Host, Matt Singer), the band ultimately settled in New York City in 2002. After a few off-the-wall performances in Williamsburg, Poingly was initially slated to be part of Vic Thrill's Circus Clone Records, and started work on a project with Holly Jacobs from The Hissyfits, Luxx Lisbon. Poingly worked on his own self-titled project at this time as well, garnering him a coveted spot at the CMJ Music Marathon in 2004. After this performance, he caught the attention of New York Noise and footage from the set is still used in promotional materials for the program. While Circus Clone Records was ill-fated and Luxx Lisbon only released one single online, Poingly was not deterred and completed work on a self-released debut in 2006 entitled, I Suck.

This record caught the attention of Mushpot Records, who included Poingly on the upcoming compilation, Electric Exercises, and will be also be releasing an upcoming split 7" with Pittsburgh, PA electronic madman, Pfunkt.

Poingly's live performance has consistently been a noted spectacle, as the Montreal Hour pointed out, "Poingly has got the shit to make you shake your shit," and CMJ New Music Report claimed Poingly's performance with Billy Morris of Warrant as possibly "topping...the Pixies." Poingly has played the CMJ Music Marathon as well as the Wilmington Exchange Festival.
