Girkan State Reserve

The Girkan State Reserve was established in 1936. They are very mountainous regions, and are protected.

The reserve of Girkan protects the wet subtropical landscapes in the areaa of Lenkoran Lowland and the Talysh Mountains, sheltering many individual plants. It was creates in December 1936. Its surface is 2.976 ha.

There are several endemic subspecies of birds, of which the Caspian Titmouse (Appeared "lugubris hyrcanus"), subspecies of the lugubrious Titmouse. The Pheasant of Colchide subspecies of the Talysh Mountains ("Phasianus colchicus talischensis") there is common.

The majority of the protected areas are the natural complexes of lowland and low mountainous forest areas of the Lenkoran region, including the well preserved planning of lower forest, the ecosystem of rare forests of the Girkan type.

The plain part of the Girkan State Reserve ("Moscow Forest") lies within the Lenkoran Lowland. The Moscow Forest is the only preserved part of the Girkan-type forest which covered most of the lowland. [ [http://www.ecotourism.aznet.org/naturalobjects/girkan.html "Girkan Reserve"] ]

In 1989 in the Girkan reserve of Lenkoran 150 deers were registered. ("Azadlig")

In 2004, the Hirkan National Park was established on the basis of the state reserve.
