History

The church was originally founded in 1952 as Liverpool Assembly of God at the Macquarie Arts Centre. After struggling for 29 years it closed down in 1981, but was re-opened in 1982 by Brian Houston as Liverpool Christian Life Centre. It was planted out of the vision of Sydney Christian Life Centre, pastored by Frank Houston. Soon after, Brian Houston left the church to start Hills Christian Life Centre (now Hillsong Church) in Baulkham Hills. John and Carol McMartin from Albury became the senior pastors. From August 31 2008 it became "Inspire Church" and has grown considerably to become one of largest churches in both Sydney and Australia, and is currently attended by over 2,500 people each week with a membership of 5,200.Fact|date=September 2008
