Lorez Alexandria

Lorez Alexandria (b. Chicago, 1929; d. 2001) was a jazz and gospel singer. She began as a singer in churches in her teens, and spent 11 years as part of an "a cappella" choir directed by Lucshaa Allen. She later turned to jazz, and remains best known for her album "Lorez Alexandria the Great" (Impulse! Records, 1966), which featured her in a variety of contexts ranging from big bands to small groups, including several tracks with the Wynton Kelly Trio.
