It's For Your Own Good " and received airplay on Australian national radio stationTriple J , where it placed at number 49 on the station's annual countdown, theTriple J Hottest 100 . The band's big break came in 1997, when thedouble A-side single "Second Solution / Prisoner of Society" became the highest selling Australian single of the 1990s. The Living End signed a contract withModular Recordings and released their debut self-titled album in 1998. The album charted at number one in Australia and has since gone onto receive a four times multi-platinum certification from ARIA, after selling in excess of 275,000 copies in Australia alone. Six songs from the debut album were released as singles and it remains The Living End's most commercially successful album.Their
sophomore album "Roll On " contained the singles "Pictures in the Mirror " and "Roll On", it failed to live up to the success of their debut album, but did still receive a platinum certification. "Modern Artillery " was The Living End's third album, released in 2003, it is their lowest selling album to date, although it still achieved gold status in Australia. The band returned to the number one position on the ARIA albums charts with their fourth album "State of Emergency", in 2006. The album featured the band's first two top 10 singles in Australia since 1997's "Second Solution / Prisoner of Society". "Wake Up" and "What's on Your Radio? " charted at number five and nine respectively.
