Selwyn Range (Canada) "The Selwyn Range (also known as the Isa Highlands) is a rugged mountain range near
Mount Isa andCloncurry in north-westQueensland, Australia , composed largely ofProterozoic metamorphic rocks. It is drained in the north by the Williams and Fullartonriver s, which run into theGulf of Carpentaria , and in the south by theMcKinlay River and its tributary,Boorama Creek which drain also into the Gulf of Carpentaria. The area is heavily mineralised, containingcopper ,gold ,lead , andzinc , and is important formining . It was formerly the home of theKalkadoon people.The climate of the Selwyn Range is
tropical ,monsoon al andsemi-arid , with an erratic, mainly summer, annual rainfall of 380 mm. Vegetation cover is loweucalypt woodland and spinifexgrassland .References
