- Blue Room Released
Blue Room Released was an
independent record label fromLondon , UK. It operated from 1994 until 2002.Some consider Blue Room Released to be one of the most important labels in the
psychedelic trance genre. It was led bySimon Ghahary and had solid financial backing fromBowers & Wilkins , Britishloudspeaker company. Allegedly, Ghahary had free rein to spend the money as he saw fit, regardless ofsales figure s. This allowed Blue Room to move away from "classic"Goa trance into new, more experimental directions. Some of the most well-known artists today were signed and had their work distributed on the Blue Room Released label. Their first compilation titled “Outside The Reactor” was released in April of1995 and featured work from artists such as Total Eclipse,Har-El Prussky , and Voodoo People. Three of the best-known projects -Juno Reactor , Total Eclipse andThe Infinity Project also released their debut albums that year. Soon the German projectX-Dream started working with Blue Room as well, releasing their "The Frog" single and the highly influential Radio album. At its height, the label released such works as "Violent Relaxation" by Total Eclipse, Juno Reactor's "Bible of Dreams", Saafi Brothers' "Mystic Cigarettes" and "Dragon Tales" byKoxbox .Some of the high-demand releases were picked up by
Inpsyde Media after the label's fall in 2002.In December
2004 the owner of the mother labelMELT 2000 Robert Trunz bought back the rights to the Blue Room Released catalogue and now works out ofSouth Africa where the new company is based. Some original CDs and vinyl is are still available at their website [http://www.melt.co.za] .See also
