The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society Building is located on Nottingham Court in the city of Buffalo, just off Elmwood Avenue, north of the Scajaquada Expressway, at a corner of Delaware Park. It was first built in 1901 for that year's Pan American Exposition. It served as the New York State pavilion, and is the only remaining structure from the exposition. As planned, the society moved into the building after the exposition, and it has been housed there ever since.

Designed by architects George Cary and J. Woodley Gosling, its south portico is meant to evoke the Parthenon, in Athens.

It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987.citation|title=PDFlink| [http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Text/80002606.pdf National Register of Historic Places Inventory-Nomination: The New York State Building, Pan American Exposition 1901 / the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society Building] |709 KB|date=January 13, 1986 | author=George Rollie Adams, Thomas E.
