Arakel Of Davrizhetsi, well-known Armenian historian in the 17th century, was born in the last decade The 16th century in Tabrize city of the province Of Atrpatakan. Like the majority of Armenian historians, Davrizhetsi — face is spiritual. In 1636 it was the director of the Monastery Of Ovannavank, from where he left into Echmiadzin.

Background

The large part of the life he conducted in The Echmiadzinskeye monastery, to monastic fraternity of which he belonged. Here he was, as himself speaks, "it is raised and trained", here he began to work, here he arrived on the old age of years, hoping "to find rest".He learned Arakel in katolikosa Of filipposa Of akhbaketsi (1633-1655), was more lately accepted the dignity of vardapeta.Arakel Of davrizhetsi, which with the life was already called "historian arakel", had a reputation of being a very competent and inquisitive person. He wrote the "book of histories" - unique work on the history of Armenia THE XVII century and adjacent with it countries and peoples. The author eyewitnessed many events and described them in the book.Arakel Of davrizhetsi was the first Armenian historian whom labor got printed. In 1669, the "book of the histories" of vardapeta Of arakela Of davrizhetsi was published in Amsterdam.Arakel Of davrizhetsi died in 1670 and was buried, as he desired, on the cemetery of the fraternity Of the echmiadzinskeyeo monastery.
