In 2000 Shaun Proulx left a successful career in finance to pursue his creative ambitions. He currently hosts The Shaun Proulx Show weekday afternoons on 103.9 PROUD FM, the world’s first commercial LGBT radio station. Proulx also contributes to various sections of the Globe and Mail including 'Globe Style' and 'Globe Toronto', and is the co-founder and editor of the widely enjoyed online magazine GayGuideToronto.com, where he also writes the celebrity interview column, 'Step Into My Parlour', and the lauded daily gossip blog, Loose Lips. He is a scene columnist and feature contributor with Xtra, where he is known for provocative articles on such topics as crystal meth and HIV and the law. Proulx is frequently sought by mainstream North American media for comment on GLBT issues such as same-sex marriage and HIV / AIDS. He has appeared on stage as a lead in the Canadian premiere of Paul Rudnick's The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told (2000), and as a lead on screen in Die Mutter, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2001. He also co-produced the Fashion Cares documentary DecAIDS - Anything Is Possible for Global Television, his first foray into documentary filmmaking. It was named an official selection of the Hollywood Digital/Video Festival in 2007, won a bronze award in the social documentary category at WorldFest in Houston, Texas, and was an official selection at the New York AIDS Film Festival in 2007.
