Hoddesdon Swimming Club

Hoddesdon Swimming Club was formed in 1884 and based at the Fish and Eels public house at Dobbs Weir on the River Lea. The club was officially registered with the Amateur Swimming Association in 1895.

Recent events

In 2005 Hoddesdon SC became accredited at the Skill Development Level under the ASA Swim 21 scheme.

The club is now based at the John Warner Sports Centre in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, and provides facilities and coaching for swimmers of all ages. A team competes in the National Speedo League and a junior team (ages 9-12 years) competes in the Junior Speedo League. The club also takes part in Hertfordshire county competitions.

In December 2006 the club won both boys’ and girls’ ‘Bob Daplyn Trophies’ (Hertfordshire team competition for under 14 swimmers).

In September 2007 Hoddesdon Swimming Club held it's first Open Meet aimed at swimmers wishing to gain qualifying times for the British Age Group Categories (BAGCATS) Championships.
