The Cat On The Mat Is Flat is a book similar to "The Bad Book" written by Andy Griffiths, who wrote the "Just!" series. The illustrations were done by Terry Denton, who has previously illustrated other books also done by Griffiths. The book was first released in the year 2006. Although a thick book, "The Cat On The Mat Is Flat" uses larger fonts and pictures, which may be the reason for its thickness and large number of pages. The book parodies the style of Dr. Seuss books, and the title is an obvious parody of The Cat in the Hat.

*'Ed and Ted and Ted's Dog Fred' was in The Bad Book but there are differences in the two versions:
**The story was originally called 'Ed and Ted and Ted's "Bad" Dog Fred'. This is probably the main reason why it was in "The Bad Book".
**None of the characters in the original live. Fred and Ted crash into the back of Ed's car, which explodes.
**Instead of a traffic light, in this version Ed stops at a red sign which says 'Stop! Do not drive! Big Cliff Ahead!'
