J. Walter Lambeth

John Walter Lambeth (January 10, 1896 - January 12, 1961) was a U.S. Representative from North Carolina.

Born in Thomasville, North Carolina, Lambeth attended the public schools.He was graduated from Trinity College (now Duke University), Durham, North Carolina, in 1916, and later attended Harvard University. During the First World War entered the Army on January 15, 1918, serving overseas as a sergeant and was discharged July 26, 1919.He engaged in the manufacture of furniture 1919-1930.He was also interested in banking.He served as member of the State senate in 1921.He served as mayor of Thomasville, North Carolina from 1925 to 1929.

Lambeth was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second and to the three succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1931-January 3, 1939).He was not a candidate for renomination in 1938.He died in Washington, D.C., January 12, 1961.He was interred in City Cemetery, Thomasville, North Carolina.
