Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School (WF-RMS) is a middle school in Wake Forest, North Carolina. The school is part of the Wake County Public School System. It operates on the traditional 10-month school calendar.

Community involvement

Since 2005, the Social-Organization and Service Club (open to all grades) at WF-RMS has organized a "Celebrate America Children's Fair, Laser Show, and Dance Marathon". This project benefits local children's hospitals and is part of the WF-RMS character education curriculum. About a week before the event, former patients of Duke Children's Miracle Network visit the student body to share their stories. Students learn about how their involvement will make a difference in the lives of people.

The project raised $8,710.08 for Duke Children's Miracle Network in the 2005-2006 school year. In the 2006-2007 school year, the project raised $13,659.25, to be split between Duke Children's Miracle Network and the North Carolina Children's Hospital. This brings the total amount in two years to $22,369.33. In celebration of the fund-raisers' success, students were treated to the chance to throw pies and "slime" at a school counselor and to see an assistant principal participate in skydiving. Students from the school also attended the dance marathon at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in spring 2007 looking for ideas to improve their own charity event,Clint Johnson. The "Social-Organization Club" prides itself on organizing service projects for the entire school, while also having fun. Students play a direct role in organization of Dance Marathon. Club members learn how to write a professional letter to a business asking for sponsorship, how to determine the needs of the event from the wants of the event, how to manage a budget, and how to effectively advertise the event in the school and the community. The club produces video commercials, which are both funny and informative for the student body.

Athletic Success

Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School won its conference boy's basketball championship in 2006-2007. The championship was shared with Leesville Middle School. The success of the team led to the creation of "The Cougar Crazies," a group of students who loudly cheered at each game. The team's home victory against Wakefield Middle School was the largest attendance in the history of the school.

The Rail Yard

For the 2007-2008 school year, Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School will introduce "The Rail Yard" at all of its home basketball games. Local businesses have donated an authentic train crossing sign, complete with flashing lights and bells. The huge prop, along with some strobe lights, a smoke machine, and a high powered light, will create quite an entrance for the Lady Cougars and Cougars basketball team in the winter. The Cougar Crazies, a student fan club, will assist with the arrival of "The Cougar Train" each game. "The train" will arrive 5 minutes before the start of each game and as the students will soon learn, "The train waits for no one!"
