Davide Bassi (born 12 April 1985) is an Italian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Sassuolo.

Biography

Born in Sarzana, Liguria, Bassi started his professional career at Tuscany club Massese. In 2005 he returned to Empoli in co-ownership deal.[1] Bassi formally returned to Empoli on 1 July 2006. He became the first choice, ahead Daniele Balli in the second half of 2007–08 Serie A. After the team relegated, he remained as the first choice. In 2010–11 Serie B he left for Torino to replace departed Matteo Sereni. Empoli signed Jasmin Handanović to replace Bassi.

In July 2011 he left for Sassuolo, but as Alberto Pomini understudy.

International career

Bassi never capped for Italy until 2008 Toulon Tournament. The coach rested the regular starters of the under-21 team and picked Bassi and Enrico Alfonso. They shared the first choice role, winning the tournament. However he did not went to Beijing Olympics.
