Politics in krav maga

After the death of its founder, Krav Maga has become more and more political. Different organizations and individuals claim to be the sole heir of Krav Maga, and others contend that it is an "open" art and should not be "owned" by any one person or group of people. Still others believe that some middle ground must be achieved in order to prevent Krav Maga from becoming a generic, and thus ineffective, self defense system.

Darren Levine and his organization, Krav Maga World Wide, seems to be the focus of some criticism surrounding the art form. Specifically, some accuse Levine of hijacking Krav Maga in the United States and are skeptical of his teaching practices and certifications. It is not clear why or how this controversy has arisen, but it is clear that there are two sides to the story.

Other proprietary entities throughout the world are in similar controversies. However, the infighting within the [Krav Maga] community is continually ongoing.
