Bavel is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is largely located within the municipality of Breda, although some rural areas fall under the authority of the municipality of Alphen-Chaam.

Until 1942 Bavel belonged to the municipality of Bavel en Ginneken. In that year the city of Breda annexed Ginneken and what remained of the old borough became Nieuw-Ginneken. Then in 1997 this municipality ceased to exist after the population centres on the border to Breda were annexed by this city.

Bavel currently has a population of around 6,500, the majority of the inhabitants live in the village itself, and some 590 in the surrounndig countryside, including the hamlets of Roosberg, Eikberg, Bolberg, Tervoort, Lijndonk and Lage Aard, some of which are mentioned in literary sources of the late Middle Ages. The municipality of Breda has in the last few years launched various plans to further expand the village towards the South, whilst a completely new village will be build on its Eastern fringe (around the old hamlets of Tervoort & Lijndonk). Additionally a large entertainment park will be developed to the North of these sites.

In recent years Bavel has already seen an extension to the North (Nieuw Wolfslaar).
