Ranjit Singh Dyal

Ranjit Singh Dyal is a former Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Lt-Gen Ranjit Singh Dyal (retd), led the capture of the famous Haji Pir Pass in the 1965 war. He later became the GOC-in-C, Southern Command. He was decorated with the Maha Vir Chakra for capturing the strategically important Haji Pir Pass in the 1965 Indo-Pak war.
