Greg King (UW Coxswain)

Greg King was a UW coxswain from 2002-2005. He coxed the UW freshman eight that won the IRA Championships and received first place at the Pac-10's and at the San Diego Crew Classic. After not participating on the UW crew his sophomore year, he coxed again his junior year. He switched between the Junior Varsity Eight and the Varsity Eight throughout the year. He lead the varsity eight to first place at the Pac-10 Championships. He now coaches for Sammamish Rowing Association as the Head Boys team coach. There he lead the first Lightweight Varsity eight at SRA to nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio as well as the Varsity eight to first at the Northwest Junior Regionals.

Coaching career

Greg has been coaching at Sammamish Rowing Association since the summer of 2005. He started out as a replacement for head coach Ryan Monahan for one summer class, but was quickly hired to fill in the novice boy's coach. After a somewhat successful year as novice coach, he was hired to be the assistant junior boy's coach and a master's coach. Between the fall season of 2007 and the spring season of 2008, head coach Ryan Monahan stepped down from his role of Head Coach and Boathouse Manager. Greg King took over these positions and now coaches the Varsity boats.
