Paul Tuminaro

Paul A. Tuminaro (born January 13, 1966) is an Actor, and sometimes inspiration for subjects of the films A Guy Thing and Relative Strangers of Greg Glienna. In the MGM 2003 release of A Guy Thing the film opens with the main character, Paul, awakening from a blackout to find himself in bed with a total stranger; an incident taken directly from Tuminaro's life. The next film, much more biographical of Tuminaro's life, is Relative Strangers which is a marriage of a skit/amateur film Glienna created while taking classes at The Second City and the details of Tuminaro's life, including the finding of his biological parents. The Hollywood version has such notables as Danny DeVito and Kathy Bates starring as the main characters (Paul Tuminaro) biological parents and Christine Baranski playing his (adoptive) mother.

Biography

Paul A. Tuminaro (born "Sean M. Dorgan") was born in Springfield, Illinois, where his birth mother Joan M. Dorgan, had been secreted away after becoming pregnant by the best man at her cousins wedding. Baptized at Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago around the corner from which he spent the first year of his life at St. Vincents Orphanage (see Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago for history of the Orphanage). Tuminaro was adopted when his birth mother, pressured by her prominent & politically connected family, finally consented and signed the release papers. He grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from high school in Illinois and attended De Paul University, where he studied finance & pre-law.

Career

Paul A. Tuminaro has worked at various white-shoe financial firms, starting his career on the CBOT Bond Trading Floor for Prudential Bache in 1990, and going on to work at Fimat International Banque, S.A a global brokerage organization and a wholly owned subsidiary of Société Générale Group; and Spectrum Global Fund Administration. He is a self described "recovering art dealer" who in 1996 opened and owned Yello Gallery, and has subsequently been prominently involved in the Chicago art scene. Past Board memberships include Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Division Thirteen Productions, and Hands On! - A Childrens Art Museum.

Tuminaro is a member of "The Memoirists Collective," a writers group consisting of the authors Josh Kilmer-Purcell, Danielle Trussoni, Maria Dahvana Headley, and Hillary Carlip, which he joined after meeting Josh Kilmer-Purcell.

Personal

Tuminaro is a longtime resident of Chicago having moved there in 1984 to attend De Paul University.

He is presently working on his memoirs.
